The letters е and э: how to write it
Latin script has one letter e, Cyrillic has two: е and э. At the start of a word, Latin e becomes э in Cyrillic (ekran — экран, eshik — эшик); inside a word it is е (kelmoq — келмоқ). A Cyrillic е at the start of a word is written ye in Latin (yer — ер).
