Tax class (Steuerklasse, Germany): what it means
The Steuerklasse is Germany's tax class (I to VI), which sets how much tax is withheld from each month's pay. Single people are usually in class I, married couples choose III/V or IV, and a second job is class VI. Any difference is settled with a tax return after the year.
