Transliteration: what it means
Transliteration means rewriting a text in another alphabet letter by letter; the language and meaning stay the same: келмоқ → kelmoq. Translation puts the text into another language. Our Converter transliterates between Latin, Cyrillic and the 2026 alphabet.
How Uzbek transliteration works
Most letters match one-to-one (a = а, b = б, m = м). These are the ones to watch:

Latin e is э at the start of a word and е inside a word; a Cyrillic е at the start of a word or after a vowel is written ye. Ц is s at the start of a word and after a consonant, ts after a vowel. Ь is not written in Latin. H (ҳ) and x (х) are different letters, so don't swap them. The 2026 alphabet changes only four letters: ö, ğ, ş, ç.
